We have five Responsible Initiative courses available in this series that focus on personal leadership, initiative for responsible results, achieving results with others, personal accountability, overcoming obstacles. Each course averages 15 minutes to complete with a post assessment included for each course. The Application Activity forms will allow the participant to apply the learnings in their own scenario and environment.

Finding opportunities to lead doesn’t mean just taking on any project. See how your work relates to the big picture first so that what you initiate is in alignment with other operations. Initiative takes courageous muscle. Everyone has it, but since it takes extra effort, too few are willing to exercise it on a regular basis. Like any muscle though, you use it or lose it. The more initiative you take, the easier it is to make. But exactly what is it?  We will help you to discover opportunities for initiative and how to take responsible initiative.

On completion of this course/article candidates will be able to:

• Identify opportunities to lead, Implement the four stages of personal leadership, summarise strategies for getting "unstuck".
• Explain the importance of taking responsible initiative, exhibit personal attributes for responsible initiative, apply ways to go above and beyond.
• Explain the benefits of synergy and teamwork, apply six guidelines for enrolling the help of others, summarise how to be an effective team member, Resolve peer accountability issues.
• Define personal accountability, Describe the four stages of the Victim Cycle, Implement the four stages of accountability.
• Describe four common internal obstacles to action, Identify the symptoms of fear, explain two types of external workplace obstacles, implement 10 tips for turning obstacles into opportunities.
