Introduction
Proventriculus/Gizzard:
The proventriculus, gizzard and intestine are now opened for examination of their internal surfaces. Closely examine the mucosal surface of the proventriculus for evidence of linear haemorrhages (Newcastle disease, avian influenza, infectious bursal disease) at the junction of the oesophagus and proventriculus plus proventriculus and gizzard (see stars, Figure 23).
