Introduction
Listeriosis is a sporadic bacterial infection of a wide range of animals including birds, fish and crustaceans. It is also an important foodborne zoonosis of humans. In domestic animals, encephalitis/meningoencephalitis in adult ruminants is the most frequently recognised form of the disease.
